Jack Sparks died while writing this book. This is the account of his final days.

In 2014, Jack Sparks – the controversial pop culture journalist – died in mysterious circumstances.

To his fans, Jack was a fearless rebel; to his detractors, he was a talentless hack. Either way, his death came as a shock to everyone.

It was no secret that Jack had been researching the occult for his new book. He’d already triggered a furious Twitter storm by mocking an exorcism he witnessed in rural Italy.

Then there was that video: thirty-six seconds of chilling footage that Jack repeatedly claimed was not of his making, yet was posted from his own YouTube account.

Nobody knew what happened to Jack in the days that followed – until now. This book, compiled from the files found after his death, reveals the chilling details of Jack’s final hours.”

Jack Sparks: I disliked Jack very much. From the beginning on I did not like him. I have nothing more to say about him. He annoyed me, he was selfish and just insufferable.

The writing was good, as well as the buildup in the story. Throughout the story you get to see more of Jack and the story because more clear to you. Though I felt like the pacing was a bit off. The last 100 pages went by so fast, a bit too fast, but the rest of the book was really slow.

The ending was unexpected. Didn’t saw it coming, well one aspect of the ending and that is the very last bit of it. The ending had me more engaged in the story that the whole book. Stuff went downhill very quickly and everything was happening very fast. I do feel like the ending was a bit rushed and it could have been explored more.

Overall I really disliked the character. I sometimes have problems with unlikable characters, but sometimes I actually enjoy them. But this was not the case. Jack Sparks annoyed me from beginning till end. The building up of the story was good as more and more of Jack’s true character was shown. But the book was slow, except the last 100 pages which went too fast in my opinion.

Overall rating: 3/5 stars
