Reading Blog #4 (9 April – 15 April)

Hello Readers!

So I am coming back with these, since I really enjoy doing them. The last few weeks I was too busy stressing and working on my thesis, but since I didn’t make it through my first deadline, I don’t have to work on that till after the summer break. So now I am getting back into this.

So this was an exciting and stressful day, because it was my first work day at my new job. I work in the home care of my own town, so basically I get to people who have care at their home and deliver the care there. I had an evening shift to begin with, so I had to start at 6.15 PM and I met up with the person I was supposed to work with for all my shifts this week. This first day was just looking at what the tasks are when doing an evening shift. I was exhausted when I got back home, and because of the nerves I haven’t read anything this day.

Monday (1)

I had a morning shift which starts at 7.30 AM and that meant a short night rest. This shift I also started to do some more than the night before. I helped my colleague and I did some things under her supervision. At the end of the shift, I was exhausted, I couldn’t take any more information in my brain. The moment I got back home, I nearly fell asleep on my bed because I went upstairs to change my clothes. So when my mom was doing grocery shopping and my brother had went working, I took a nice nap on the couch. The rest of the day I did nothing but watching YouTube and writing my Birthday Post.

Monday (2)

This was my birthday. Does anyone else become a little giggling child on their birthday? I know I do, this is the only day in the year I let it turn around me. I love getting presents and unpacking them, I am a kid when it comes to my birthday presents. So I woke up pretty on time, after a good night rest and I had some breakfast. At 12.15 PM I went to my favorite bookstore with my mom to eat lunch there, which they started serving since a few days, and to pick up 3 of my Birthday presents. We had a delicious grilled sandwich there, if you ever come to Latte’s and Literature in Breda and you would like to eat lunch there, I would recommend the Moby Melt. When we were done, we went to Ikea where I could pick up something for my room. I went with a small set up piece for my desk. The rest of the time before dinner, mom and I spent building things we bought at Ikea. After dinner I got the rest of the presents and watch the Blacklist.

Monday (3)

This was a day of doing house chores. I did vacuum, the laundry, the dishwasher and cook dinner. While doing this I was listening to the audiobook for the Hazel Wood I listened to like 2 hours of it and I really enjoy the audiobook. Furthermore I didn’t do that much more for the day. I had been writing some blog posts and I believe I DNF’ed Godblind as well this day. I was listening to the audiobook for this and I didn’t get anything. I didn’t know what was going on and how the characters were important to the plot. I will probably give it another go someday and then I will physical read it.

Monday (4)

This was the last work day for the week, I had a morning shift. During this shift my colleague and I decided to plan in another work in day. I have been out of the running when it comes to nursing older people. I had a half year break and before that I worked for 1,5 years with children so I need more time to get back into it. So we planned another day. When I got back home, mom and I did some grocery shopping for my party the next day and again I took a nap. The rest of the evening I didn’t do anything, but catch up on a series with my mom.

Monday (5)

This was the day I was looking forward to all week long, the day I was to celebrate my birthday with friends. We did a high tea at my home with homemade snacks. I always those kind of high teas more than one you have at a restaurant or shop. I had made cookies and brownies, I served them with carrots, cucumber, blue berries and grapes. We had a lot of fun and talked a lot, since we don’t see each other that much because we were all pretty busy. We did decide to do this kind of things more often. While setting everything up I finished listening to The Hazel Wood and I really enjoyed listening to it, I loved the darkness and twist of the story. I am still deciding between a 4 or 4.5 rating. I am planning on writing a review on it.

Monday (6)

I slept in, my favorite activity after reading and writing. The rest of the day I have been working on my blog since I wanted to change the look of it. I really wanted a sidebar so people who visit my blog will see my Instagram, Goodreads and other links as they scroll through my feed instead of seeing them when they reach the end. Other than that, I spend some time catching up on YouTube videos from people I am subscribed to and I listened to the audiobook of The Last of August.

Here are the mentioned books

Godblind by Anna Stephens

The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert

The Last of August by Brittany Cavallaro

How was your week? Have you read any of the books I have read or started this week?
