Wrap Up and TBR

What I have read so far this year

Hello Readers!

So today I’ll be talking about the books I have read between the beginning of the year and the end of April. Since my life has been very busy and hectic in this period, I haven’t been able to read much. To be exact I read a total of 6 books. I hope that I’ll be reading more this month and the upcoming months, since it has been frustrating me a bit. But I hope my life will calm down in the upcoming two weeks. Since there is a very important deadline in the upcoming weeks.

Little Women by Louisa May Alcott

This was a reread for me, I read this as part of a book club and because I wanted to see the movie. I enjoyed it this time around a lot more than the first time I read it. I listened to the audiobook and I noticed that I misunderstood some things the last time. The character I connect with the most was Meg, I think we a pretty alike. But then there was also movie Jo, when she was older, I really connected with. Overall I enjoyed this classic but I won’t be continuing with the series.

Heartstopper volume 1 by Alice Oseman

I really loved reading this. I love how simplistic the art style is and the way the story is told. The story is very cute and I had a big smile on my face the whole time reading it. But that doesn’t mean that there isn’t any depth to the characters. Because there is, but you only get to see a bit more of that at the end of the first volume. So with that I am very excited about picking up the next one.

The Black Hawks by David Wragg

To be honest, I was quite disappointed with this book. It isn’t that it was bad, but it felt like there could have been done more to make it a better book. I did enjoy reading this book, but I felt that I could have enjoyed it more if the author had more world building in the book and more character depth. While I was reading the book I couldn’t picture where we were in the world. So this book would have benefited from more world building and maybe a map at the beginning of the book, so you could follow along. With that I also thought that the characters felt very 2D and at the end of the book we didn’t really get to know them.

Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng

I really loved every second of this book. The whole story is told from every member of the family’s point of view. That way you can form an idea of the dynamics of the family and why happened to Lydia wat happened. I really recommend listening to this novel by audio since that is the route I went with this book.

Down Among The Sticks and Bones by Seanan McGuire

In this book you follow Jack and Jill before the first book and their time in their world before the first book takes place. I quite enjoyed listening to this book. Normally with books this length I want more by the end, but with this book I feel like they are just long enough to keep me entertained. And Jack is still one of my favorite characters.

Beneath the Sugar Sky by Seanan McGuire

This book takes place after the events of the first book and I actually really enjoyed this one. I think this one is my favorite of the series so far. We get so see some characters we are already familiar with and some new characters to get to know. With this book the world also expenses and we get to know more worlds and more about worlds and how the doors work. I am really excited to continue on with this series soon!

So how has your reading been going these past months? I hope better than mine. And what has been your favorite read of the year so far?

    1. Yes. The first one is called Little Women and the second (which is most of the time paired in an edition with Little Women) is Good Wives, then you have Jo’s Boys and Little Men, but I don’t know which one comes first.
